Our Bird City

The Pre-K students have been working very hard!  We studied birds and their habitats during the fall.  Now the children have decided to make the birds a "city."  We are researching bird feeders, baths, houses and nests.

We have spent a lot of time planning.  Today, each class made a mural of our bird city.  We drew and labeled our plans.

We've been using blocks and other classroom supplies to plan and practice building.

Now we are ready to begin our building process.

We've made a simple supply list.  We are working with a few local businesses for donations.  We would appreciate any help you could give us!  If you have supplies or would like to help out in the classroom please let us know!

Here are a few things that we need:
plywood
wood screws
wood glue
chicken wire
bird seed
fabric
plastic containers (yogurt cups, berry baskets, etc.)
net bags (vegetable bags)
plastic trays

We are starting with bird feeders.  Soon we will be making bird baths and houses.  We will also be planning a field trip.  We are so excited to start this new project.  Thank you so much for your continued support!

Our Philosophy

The basic philosophy of Christian Life has always been to meet children’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive needs in a setting that is appropriate for the child’s age. We are inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to Early Childhood Education.  Emphasis is placed on children learning through exploration in an environment prepared for them by knowledgeable teachers. We provide opportunities for children to participate in learning activities in science, reading, writing, math, and critical and creative thinking through play, which is the way young children learn best.
Children participate in dramatic play, games, puppetry, cooking, woodworking, gardening, music, art, and other learning activities. A small group setting provides each child a rich environment in which to explore and learn at their own pace while under the guidance of knowledgeable teachers. This setting also provides opportunities for children to develop social and emotional skills as they interact with one another.

Parental support and involvement are key in your child’s growth.  We hope that our school day will be an extension of learning that takes place within your home.  We look forward to working with you to nurture and encourage your child’s individuality.

About Our School

Christian Life School has been in existence for 16 years. We offer various classes through out the school year and summer. During the school year we have a Mother's Day Out Program and two Pre-Kindergarten classes. Our youngest class is for children who have celebrated their first birthday. Also, we offer multiple events for school-aged children. Please check our Upcoming Events page for more information.

Discovery Camp is our summer program. This is for children in the 1st through 6th grades. We offer multiple classes through out the school day. Children will work in various settings. Some of the subjects include musical theater, cooking, inventing, and hands-on math and science. We work hard to create an open and exciting learning environment so that all children will be involved in the learning process. We will be posting information about Discovery Camp 2011 soon.

MDO and Pre-K classes are still offered in the summer!
